GRAND TENNIS CLUB!

The Grand Board workshop will be this Thursday, at 1:00 in the Mediterranean room in the Palm Center.  Although the agenda hasn't come out yet, I believe that the basketballer's using the Stadium court will be on the agenda.  The ad hoc committee has put together this:

1) Court shoes and shirts must be worn at all times

2)  No lines will be placed on the court, ie with tape etc

3)  The tennis net should not be adjusted/removed for play

4)  All players must sign-in with the provided book adjacent to the basketball hoop

5)  Basketballs are available at the Adobe Fitness Center and can be checked out for usage

Usage Time:  July, August, September: Tuesday, Thursday, Sunday 6:30am-9:00am

Oct 1 though December 31:  Monday - Sunday 3:00pm - 9:00pm/ Sundays 6:30-8:30am

If the court is vacant, you may play basketball outside of the hours above.  However, tennis players have the first right to use the court and take precedence (except during specified basketball hours)

What might consider this trial a success:

1)Interest group formed with 25 members

2) During the summer months, at least 10 people play per week

3)  During the season, at least 30 people play per week

Players playing will be determined from the log-they don't have to be interest group members

4) Good sportsmanship has been shown in sharing court space with tennis

5) The goal is to move forward and look for a permanent location should the test be successful

++++++

My concerns:  I don't want the permanent location to be Stadium court.  We NEED all 11 courts during the season to accommodate all of our members.   I would love to have some support at the meeting on Thursday from many of you!    I will be speaking and reviewing a few things because there are new Board Members.  I will continue to express that just as we are a premier golf community, we are a premier tennis community......meaning permanent sharing with lines on the court is not an option.  Thank you all in advance for your support.
